Innovation Lab
Collaboratively solving the puzzle by shaking the pieces
Brief
With our Innovation Lab team we were asked to build an interactive installation for the entrance of TEDx Youth@Amsterdam. 200 kids would be invited to attend the event and we had to come up with an idea to enjoy them while the check-ins were being processed.
Solution
Our concept was a huge (400x170cm) TEDx logo, divided in 200 blocks. Every registered visitor got his own block and was asked to place this block on a frame. The only way to get to know where the kids had to place their block, was by shaking it. The blocks were all rigged with a sensor/accelerometer. While shaking, their photo appeared on a huge screen at the spot where they had to place their block. In the meanwhile, other kids could write their signature on a screen with a Wiimote. This signature was, when they saved it, showed on a screen above the physical logo.
Input
Together with two others I developed the overall concept. I was also responsible for the design of the physical logo and for the design and technical realization of the Wii signature application in processing.
